both running into the same 30" monitor- me switching from one computer to the other seamlessly when I need to do some task that the old mac specialized in, but doing the bulk of my work on the newer mac running the latest OSX and the latest Lightroom and PhotoMechanic. What do you think about this work-around? Two Macs, side by side, or stacked on top of one another.

and a newer computer with up-to-date software for the bulk of my day-to-day work as a pro photographer (mostly just answering emails, and running PhotoMechanic and Lightroom) so my normal day-to-day activities would be happening on an updated OSX and possibly new hardware, and I'd jump over to that other (older) Mac with the old software installed a few times per year when I need to work on my logo in Illustrator, or when I need to design a wedding album, or when I need to roll up my sleeves and do some extensive retouching in Photoshop. one of them (an older computer with old software) running Adobe CS6 and OSX 10.10 for when I need to use Photoshop/InDesign/Illustrator.
I envision my home office workflow computer to be TWO separate Macs sitting right next to each other or right on top of one another.

A single one time purchase of an even newer mac is not out of the question if it would be the best solution, or I could jsut upgrade one of the Macs that I currently own to run the new software. they both have Adobe cs6 installed on them. Could this be a possible workaround for the issue? I currently own two Mac's: a 2012 MacMini and a 2015 MacBookPro, those are my at-home and on-the-road workstations for running a photography business.
One solution I just though of, is running TWO Macs in my work environment. Perhaps I could just run two macs in my home office So what can I do? Some people are going to say that I want my cake and to eat it too, sure ok, but if it's possible to do both of those things I want to figure it out. There are also some other nice things about upgrading my OS and possibly upgrading to a newer Mac. I have an itch to upgrade my camera kit from 5d4 and EF glass to a Canon R5 mirrorless kit, and supposedly there is no really good way to do that without (at least) upgrading to the newest Lightroom version. and I only use it once in a while anyway so paying for 12 months of use and only using it for 1 or 2 of those months seems like a dumb investment.īut now it's 2021. Overall, Adobe CS6 Creative Suite does everything I need it to do, I already own it, and I do not want to pay monthly or yearly for some functionality that I already own. So I do not want to pay for something month-to-month that I already own and I do not need the latest-and-greatest versions of. I only need to use those programs once in a while, like when I'm updating my website or branding in the offseason, or designing wedding albums.

I bought the CS6 software back in 2012 and decided to not update that workstation computer because I want that software to be there for me to use FOREVER. I do not want to subscribe to the Adobe software EVER, I hate the idea of subscribing and paying month-to-month, and imo the CS6 versions of Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign do everything that I need them to do. People will say 'oh just subscribe, it's *only* $600/year' for creative cloud. so my workstation at home (Mac Mini) and on the Road (Mac Book Pro) are both stuck living in the past, in 2012 with old software. WHY? Simply because I own the last non-subscription version of Adobe Creative Suite CS6 and it will become broken software the minute I upgrade the OS. I have been using a Mac Mini from 2012 and not updating the OS since OSX 10.10 Yosemite. I'm at a crossroads with my workstation, and could use a little bit of advice.
